An artist collective of dancers, musicians and designers, The Magpie members celebrate cross-discipline and cross-cultural collaboration with an open heart!

Apart from a performance by its members (25 January), Magpie will also hold a workshop which leads to two more performances (MELT) (26-27 January) that combine Magpie performers with Thai artists – every show will be different!

Kafka Listening to the Wind
A Site-specific Dance Theatre
When the surrounding scenery gradually becomes less familiar…Please listen to the sound of the wind.

Inspired by Japanese writer Haruki Murakami’s “Hear the Wind Sing”, “All God’s Children Can Dance” and “Kafka on the Shore”, Macao’s foremost theatre director and choreographer Jane Lei works with Macao’s young artists and dancers to present this sensorial site-specific dance theatre, which premiered in Macao Cultural Centre in 2006.
Audience will follow the path of the performers in various spaces of the theatre to be engrossed in sceneries of installations, body movement, voices and images, and indulge in the place where ravages and memories collide, reality and illusion melt.

A man's requiem for the lonely
A modern memorial service

SEOP Dance Company draws lyrical movements from Korean folk dance and transform them into a unique contemporary dance language. “A man’s requiem for the lonely” is
a modern memorial service that is intended to console the ill-fated souls of people who died before their time. The service includes an exorcism, a primitive religious ceremony and images of the Bara (Cymbal) Dance and the Nabi (Butterfly) Dance, which are both performed in Buddhist rituals as one of Korean traditional dances.
